Today’s episode of “Why Did I Leave My Bed?” started at 7:15am.
I actually left the house on time (I know, I’m shocked too), feeling suspiciously optimistic about the day. That lasted about three minutes, which is exactly how long it took for my stupid satnav to decide that the motorway was the way to go. Spoiler: it was not.
Cue me, crawling along in traffic for what felt like several lifetimes, questioning every life choice that led me to this point. Honestly, if my satnav had just grown a personality and said, “Bestie, don’t do it,” I’d have listened.
Eventually, I escaped the motorway misery and made a very important detour: Co-op. Because I refuse – absolutely refuse – to pay uni prices for a drink. I’m sorry, but why am I basically taking out a mortgage for a bottle of Coke on campus? Extortionate doesn’t even cover it.
Drink secured, spirits slightly lifted, I got back to my car… only to find that some absolute menace had parked so close to me I basically needed to temporarily remove my skeleton to get into the driver’s seat. I was fully trapped in my own car, doing acrobatics just to sit down. At this point, the universe was really speed-running my patience.
Somehow, through sheer determination (and a bit of rage), I made it out and headed to uni, now very aware that I was on the brink of being late. I did manage to slide into my first Criminal Justice lecture though, pretending I hadn’t just lived through a personal episode of “Final Destination: Parking Edition.”
Today’s topic was classicism as a theory, which then carried on into my seminar. Brain officially used, box ticked, academic weapon activated.
And now? I’m in the middle of my glorious 4 hour break. Yes, four. Thanks a lot, timetabling – really love sitting around on campus like an extra in my own life.
To survive this unnecessarily long gap, I treated myself to a jacket potato (elite choice, 10/10, would eat again). Currently, I’m parked somewhere comfy, watching Love Island USA – Serena and Leah season. The girlies get it. Because what else am I supposed to do with four hours? Definitely not uni work, that’s for sure.
So that’s today so far:
• survived the motorway,
• outsmarted uni drink prices,
• escaped a villainous parking job,
• learnt about classicism,
• and am now deep in my Love Island era.
I’ll update later over on the self-care section of my blog with how my evening goes – think cozy vibes, winding down, and attempting to be That Girl (or at least trying).
For now, consider this the chaotic daytime edition. Stay tuned for the soft, self-care evening version. 💕
